La Plataforma / The Platform is a modular small scale performance platform or audio-visual instrument to create small scale performances. It's technical facilities resemble those that can be found on traditional large scale theatre stages such as:
- A lighting system consisting of various kind of spots and flood-lights (with rbg color mixing for each light)
- Movable bars and stage elements (i.e. to realize scene transitions, to move curtains or other objects)
- A small scale video projection system
- The possibilty to control sound.
- It's main purpose are live performances. Currently I can be controlled via a standard MIDI keyboard. Light, color and scene changes, the movements and speed of the motors, audio and video playback can be controlled dynamically via a standard MIDI keyboard.
Further more it can operate as a "standalone" device with two possible options of operation:
- Programmed shows and scenes can be loaded and triggered with a dedicated remote control (Currently light settings only).
- Entire shows and scenes can be played in automated sequences i.e. for exhibitions. (Including Audio and video playback.)
The Platform communicates via OSC/WIFI with simple OSC messages for live control, scene and show programming . The hardware consists of a Raspberry Pi (programmed in Java) and several other hardware modules. A max patch, that runs on a separate computer/laptop serves as a UI frontend (bi-directional) for scene/show programming and as MIDI to OSC translator.
